Kate Ferguson, Director of Bands

Kate Ferguson is in her 13th year of teaching and 11th year as an instrumental music teacher in the Crestwood Local Schools. Prior to her assignment at Crestwood, she was the assistant band director at Cuyahoga Falls High School for 2 years.  Ferguson earned her Masters in Music Education from the University of Akron in May 2004, and her Bachelor of Music Education from Kent State University  in August 1998. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D in Music Education at Kent State University. Ferguson is actively involved in the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA). She is currently serving as an OMEA District VI President, is a member of the State Board. Ferguson is an active OMEA Adjudicator and has also served OMEA by hosting High School Solo & Ensemble and Marching Band Adjudicated Events, as well as being a member of the 2003, 2006, and 2009 Professional Conference Planning Committee. Ferguson actively performs on her main instrument, trombone, with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve. Ferguson has been on the administrative staff for Matrix Indoor Percussion Ensemble since its conception in 1999. Her professional memberships include Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Music Education Association, Bands of America, and Delta Omicron.

Debbie Wiandt, Assistant Director
5th & 6th Grade Director, 7th & 8th Grade Bands Assistant, MS Jazz Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble
Debbie Wiandt is in her 21st year of teaching and 10th year as an instrumental music teacher in the Crestwood Local Schools. Her teaching responsibilities at Crestwood include directing the fifth and sixth grade bands and teaching lessons, directing the Middle School Jazz Band, and assisting seventh through twelfth grade Concert Bands. Mrs. Wiandt previously taught five years in the East Guernsey Schools and five years in the Ohio Valley Local Schools. She received her BME from Mount Union College in 1990 and a masters degree in Music Education from the University of Akron in 2006. Her primary instrument of is study is the Euphonium. Mrs. WIandt is active in the Ohio Music Education Association, currently serving as a district committee chair and brass adjudicator. She is also a member of MENC, OMEA, and CEA.

Judith Guegold, Director of Middle School Bands
7th & 8th Grade Bands Director, MS Jazz Band, 5th & 6th Grade Bands
Judith Guegold has been with the Crestwood Local School District teaching instrumental music at Crestwood Middle School for the past 24 years. This is her 13th year as Director of the CMS 7th and 8th Grade Bands. Her duties also include teaching fifth and sixth grade  group lesson and assisting with Jazz Band. Her bands have received consistent superior rating at OMEA MS/JH Adjudicated Events. Her groups have performed at OMEA Conference and Ohio Band Directors’ Conference. Mrs. Guegold is an active member of OMEA, MENC, NBA, and is currently president-elect for OMEA District VI. She is a consistent member of the faculty on the Wooster Music Camp. Mrs. Guegold is a graduate of South Range HS in Mahoning County. She received her BM degree from Capital Conservatory of Music, Columbus, Ohio. Her primary instrument of study which she performs on regulary is the Oboe. She received her Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of Akron.

Jacob Adkins, Assistant Director

Jacob Adkins is in his 11th year as a staff member with the Crestwood Band program.  His duties at Crestwood include the Marching Band, Jazz Band II, and sectionals with the Concert Bands. Adkins has worked extensively with numerous band programs around northeastern Ohio as a brass & visual clinician. Adkins also is currently a web designer for area high school bands and the OMEA District VI. Adkins attended Kent State University and his primary instrument of study was the Tuba. Jacob has been the recipient of the Eddie Calabrese Scholarship, Future Music Educator of the Year, Outstanding Service Award and Roy D. Metcalf Band Award. Jacob was a member of the National Intercollegiate Band in 2001, and the 2001-2002 OCMEA State Treasurer. His professional memberships include Ohio Music Education Association, Delta Omicron, and Kappa Kappa Psi.  Adkins actively performs on her main instrument, Tuba with the Brass Band of the Western Reserve. Adkins is also a certified macintosh Genius for the Apple Computer Company.

Andrew Senkar, Woodwind Caption Head
Marching Band Woodwind Caption Head & Movement Coordinator, Concert & Jazz Band Coach, Private Lessons
This is Drew’s 7th year working with the Crestwood Band Program. His duties include Woodwind Caption Head and Movement Coordinator with the Marching Band. Drew also assissts with sectionals in the Concert and Jazz Bands. Drew currently is pursuing his masters degree Educational Leadership. Drew received his Bachelors Degree from The Ohio State University in the summer of 2007. Drew’s primary instrument of study is the Saxophone. Senkar is very active in the marching idiom serving many schools around the state in the capacity as a visual and music instructor. Drew is an alumnus of Brunswick High School.


Rob Ferguson, Marching Band Designer & Arranger
Marching Band Visual & Musical Designer, Concert Band Coach
Rob Ferguson has been recently involved with the Crestwood Band Program for the past 10 years as the visual and musical designer for the Scarlet Guard Marching Band. Ferguson previously served on the percussion faculty and is the assistant marching band director at Youngstown State University. In addition to his teaching, he is an active composer, arranger and designer in both the indoor and outdoor marching activities. Ferguson has been a guest soloist and clinician on marimba at many universities and high schools in Ohio, Indiana, Texas and Pennsylvania. Ferguson holds both his bachelors and masters degrees in percussion performance from Kent State University. Rob is currently an endorser for Innovative Percussion, a design/sales representative for M&I Dancewear, and is serving his third term as a percussion representative to Mid East Performance Association Board of Directors. Ferguson has been a member of the Design team for the DCI top twelve finalist Drum and Bugle Corps the Glassmen since 2007.

Nick Zevchek, Low Brass & Visual Instructor
Low Brass & Visual Instructor Marching Band, Concert Bands Coach & Private Lessons
This is Nick's 5th year working with the Crestwood Bands as a low brass instructor. Zevchek is a 2009 graduate of Kent State University with a degree in Music Performance with his primary instrument of study the tuba. Currently Nick is the graduate assistant for Tuba at the University of Akron. Nick is currently teaches private lessons to area schools and also works with the Norton Marching Band as a low brass instructor. Nick is an alumnus of Brunswick High School.
