REMINDERS ABOUT UNIFORM GUIDELINES FROM HANDBOOK
In Uniform:
The Scarlet Guard has created a very special look and approach. This image is created by YOU and how you approach the responsibilities involved with being a part of this very special group. The general rule is – if you have concerns as to whether you should be doing something, DO NOT DO IT! People who see you “behind the scenes” will form their opinions of the entire band from their opinions of YOU and how YOU behave in uniform.

Physical Appearance

Men – Hair should be neat. If a male member has long hair, it must be worn up in the same fashion as a female member, and appear to be short when the hat is worn; no hair should be touching the top of your collar or be popping out anywhere. Nothing is worse than a sloppy look.

Women – Your hair must be pinned up, and put in a bun of some sort so there is no hair showing outside your hat. Make up should be worn conservatively.

These requirements are by no means a comment on any member’s personal appearance, but rather to create a look of uniformity throughout the band.

You may not wear any jewelry or nail polish while in uniform (watches, rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc). You should give specific thought before getting a new piercing to be sure you can remove it for any performance; simply covering it is not an option. Again, the idea is uniformity – not making a fashion statement.

You must wear proper undergarments while in uniform. Even though these items are supplied by you, they are a required part of the uniform. These items include: long black socks, member t shirt, black uniform shoes, and cotton underwear (briefs). The uniform pants are tight and the briefs prevent the visibility of undergarment lines through the material of the uniform pants. Believe it or not – you can tell!

Applebees Dine to Donate Day

On Tuesday September 14, 2010 from 11AM-9PM the Streetsboro Applebees is sponsoring a Dine to Donate Day to benefit the Crestwood High School Band Program. The event last year had an AMAZING turn out all day long, the managers said it was one of the finest they have ever had. In order to make this year even more successfully we need every family member, friend, relative, business college, and more to come to Applebees for the day to help raise money for the band program. Anyone can participate all you have to do is bring the special flyer below for your meal in person or for carside to go and Applebees will donate 15% to the band program. Anyone that has additional questions should contact Marge Franks. See you all at Applebees on Tuesday September 14, 2010!!!

2nd Annual “Band-Tastic” Golf Outing September 26, 2010

Register your team now to come on out and join the Band Patrons at the beautiful Kent State University Golf Course a day of golf, food, prizes, and fun! Featuring 18 holes of golf with a shotgun start at 9AM, followed by snacks and a delicious Steack or Chicken lunch with beverages, we will have a great time raising funds for the band. Tickets are only $65 each or $260.00 for a team. rEGISTRATION FORMS AND MONEY DUE ON OR BEFORE sEPTEMBER 12, 2010. Download the form online and via e-mail. Sponsors are needed, too!
